The followers of Sikhism, or Sikhs, are ordained to observe the teachings of the ten Sikh Gurus, enshrined in the holy scripture the Guru Granth Sahib.
The first Sikh Holy Scripture was compiled and edited by the Fifth Guru, Guru Arjan in 1604, while some of the earlier gurus are also identified to have documented their revelations. The textual content was decreed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth and previous human guru, as the last expert of the Khalsa Panth.
The 5 baptised Sikhs had been named Panj Pyare (5 Beloved Ones), who in turn baptised the Guru at his request. He is responsible for the establishment of the metropolis of Ramdaspur later to be named Amritsar. Sikh mythos (higher than) suggests that Guru Tegh Bahadur sacrificed himself to save Hindus, just after Kashmiri pandits arrived to him for help when the Emperor condemned them for failing to convert to Islam.
In 1644, Guru Har Rai turned Guru adopted by Guru Har Krishan, the boy Guru in 1661. Guru Teg Bahadur grew to become Guru in 1665 and led the Sikhs till 1675, when he sacrificed his life in protection the Kashmiri Hindus who had appear to him for assistance.
